Andrew Szypula is the Assistant Director of Bands at Tulane University in New Orleans. He performs regularly with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and is in-demand as a studio and live percussionist. Orchestral percussion, drum set, world percussion, marching percussion, and mallet percussion are all a regular part of Andrew’s work. Andrew serves as music director for a number of professional and collegiate ensembles. As a producer, Andrew is experienced with composing, arranging, engraving, audio engineering, editing, managing personnel, and giving direction to your creative project.
Andrew is proud to be a Yamaha Performing Artist and a member of the Vic Firth and Zildjian Education Team. Andrew is also part of the Beetle Percussion Artist Family, Percussive Arts Society, and the College Band Directors National Association.

Andrew is the Assistant Director of Bands at Tulane University where he oversees operations for the band program, co-designs the fall halftime shows, and serves as advisor for all auxiliary ensembles including Soundwave Pep Band, Shockwave Dance Team, and Green Wave Winds. Andrew has instructed groups and held clinics for all levels of music across the globe from New Orleans to Medellín, Colombia.
